black hole

chasing marbles in the Liberty Science Center
I casted my wish on a black hole
& suddenly recalled
the floors were hot in that UWS apartment
ceilings low
I kicked my foot on someone else’s furniture
& tried to share your interest in the ceiling
as you fell out of tune.
in august, you picked my mother’s guitar
chipped my wall; closed my eyes.
I reached for you in the dependable dark
& found a surface, braille & frail
what i had; what you left.
that night, I confessed a song upon your lips.
& someday you will invent
the melody I traced upon your back.
& the world might be honest as it ever will
& love might be tangible.
yesterday’s calendar foreshadowed a night i couldn’t afford
it dangled what i live for
& i recalled

East Beach, crashing against you

plaid riding up my legs

our shadows indistinguishable from crawling rocks

under an old star’s spotlight

we kissed

the jealous wind clipped my ankles,

 sent the train my way

Stand clear.

I shivered in your lap

cold in your clothes with no more wishes left

I hoped that you knew.

we kissed

every black hole

birthday

coin and candle

Stand clear.

I wished you loved me too.

cold in your clothes with no more wishes left

I hoped you loved me too.

we kissed. Standing, we kissed
& those sitting words went unsaid.
